Born and raised in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand I have always been
interested in the night sky. After joining the Phoenix Astronomical Society in
1998 I become a keen astrophotographer and subsequently built a small roll-off
roof observatory in my backyard. I regularly give talks about various aspects
astrophotography and have also been recently involved in the construction of
Stonehenge-Aotearoa.
I enjoy capturing wide field images particulary of the southern night sky as well the occasional Aurora Australis.
A number of my images have been used in books, magazines and various publications world wide.
Clear Skies,
Chris Picking
